Born in the town of Loffenau in the lush hills of Germany’s Black Forest, Harald cultivated a love of natural produce on his grandparents’ farm that continues to inspire his creativity today. Wielding classic techniques with modern creative flair he aims to “create a perfect starting position for a succession of taste experiences to unfold in every dish” using sauces “like a painter uses paint”.

Michelin Record

Following an apprenticeship at some of the top Michelin-starred restaurants in Germany and France, Harald became the Executive Chef of the “Schwarzwaldstube” in Baiersbronn at the age of just 24, taking it to become a 3 Michelin Star restaurant by 1992 and repeating that achievement for 25 consecutive years. That’s a record still unmatched in Germany and almost anywhere else worldwide.

From Stellar Awards To The Stars

Wohlfahrt’s mastery has won massive international recognition. From Michelin stars to New York Times’ Top Ten Chefs in the World, Gault et Millau 19.5 out of 20, Feinschmecker 5 out of 5, Schlemmer Atlas 5 out of 5 and 1st in the Hornstein Ranking. Equally stellar, the European Space Agency commissioned Wohlfahrt to develop meals that revitalise the astronauts on the International Space Station.
